Tot luni, ceva mai devreme, o altă femeie a fost reţinută după ce şi-a scos basmaua chiar în locul unde protestase Vida Movahed. Nici acest incident, nici cele care au urmat nu au fost menţionate de autorităţile iraniene sau de presa locală.
După revoluţia islamică din 1979, femeile şi fetele în vârstă de peste nouă ani din Iran sunt obligate să poarte basmale care să le acopere părul şi haine largi.
